Medals for inventors from the NCU
2015-07-03
The inventions from the NCU received medals (one gold medal with distinction, three gold medals and one silver medal) at the international invention expositions “Inpex" in Pittsburgh (USA) and “Intarg" in Cracow (Poland).
Within the project “Innovation Incubator" of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education conducted by the University Business Incubator several inventions developed by scientists of the NCU have recently been presented successfully at the international exhibition fairs for inventors, such as: the Invention & New Product Exposition (INPEX) and the International Fair of Economic and Scientific Innovations (INTARG).
The Invention & New Product Exposition (INPEX) is the largest America's trade show that showcases numerous inventions, new products and innovations that are available to license, market or manufacture. The "INPEX" has been held in the state of Pennsylvania in the USA for 30 years.
This year well over 550 inventions from 24 countries were exhibited. The inventions came from the USA, Poland, Australia, Canada, China, Croatia, Egypt, France, Iran, Korea, Malesia, Mexico, Morocco, New Zealand, Norway, Saudi Arabia, the Republic of South Africa, Sweden, Russia, Taiwan and Turkey, among others.
This year the Polish invention “System supporting perceptual-cognitive development of infants and babies" received a gold medal with distinction. It was developed by a team of the researchers including: Prof. Włodzisław Duch, dr Bibianna Bałaj, dr Joanna Dreszer-Drogorób, Prof. Oleksandr Sokolov, dr Tomasz Komendziński, dr hab. Jacek Matulewski, mgr inż. Dariusz Mikołajewski, Michał Meina and Tomasz Piotrowski. The same invention gained recognition at the International Fair of Economic and Scientific Innovations “Intarg" in Cracow, Poland, where it received the Jury Award and the Gold Medal.
The International Fair of Economic and Scientific Innovations (INTARG) has been organised annually since 2002. This year the fair was held in Cracow. It hosted international community and presented 54 research units from 6 countries.
Three other inventions developed by the NCU researchers were also awarded:
Gold medal - for "Activated carbons with high nitrogen content and of high electric conductivity as well as the way of producing activated carbons particularly for the purpose of manufacturing electrodes" prepared by Prof. Jerzy P. Łukaszewicz and Anna Ilnicka, a PhD student from the Faculty of Chemistry.
Gold medal - for "The system of collecting, processing and analyzing measurement data from electrochemical measurements of aqueous solutions of biogenic PNS elements (phosphorus, nitrogen, sulphur)" prepared by the team comprising: Prof. Jerzy P. Łukaszewicz, Paweł Rzymyszkiewicz, Piotr Matuszak and Grzegorz Grodzicki.
Silver medal - for "A method for measurement of optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) with the band shape modulation - OSL, BSM-OSL)", an invention prepared by dr hab. Alicja Chruścińska.
