CIRCULAR LETTER No. 4

Rector of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń of April 24, 2023.

on membership fees in scientific societies and scientific organizations

Pursuant to § 13 point 1 and § 14 of Order No. 276 of the Rector of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń of December 22, 2020 on internal acts of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń (Legal Bulletin of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń of 2020, item 444, as amended .) in order to standardize the functioning of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, hereinafter referred to as the "University", the following rules for paying membership fees in scientific societies and scientific organizations are established.

1) Due to the voluntary membership of a University employee in scientific societies or organizations, the cost of the membership fee is covered by the employee himself.

2) In exceptional cases, with the consent of the Rector, the membership fee may be financed by the University. In such situations, specific, measurable benefits for the University and the source of financing must be demonstrated.

3) An application regarding the membership fee should be submitted to the vice-rector responsible for science, after a positive opinion from the dean of the faculty.

4) The cost of the fee paid by the University constitutes the employee's income from the employment relationship and is subject to personal income tax and social security contributions.
